When a recipe asks for milk, does it mean fresh milk?!
EDIT: Sorry if I confused you there Ena. Fresh milk (which has been UHT treated) in the cartons is fine to use for your baking. Im sure you could use the longlife milk if there was no fresh available, but personally when Im cooking I use the carton milk. :o) xx Hope I've cleared this up - sorry for any confusion there!! xx
Answers: Hi Ena :o) xx Yes hon, when a recipie asks for milk, it generally means fresh milk (not longlife milk). If a special sort of milk is needed (buttermilk, condensed milk etc), it will say that in the recipie. Hope this helps xx

not exactly...but obviously full cream milk....u can use carton milk...no problem

yes most of the recipes will tell you if you need whole milk which is from a carton. or canned milk or sweetened condesated milk. and yes there are even recopies for sour milk too ( that one you have to see exactly how old the milk should be ) and even powder milk too is one type of milk too.

If it's not specified, it does mean the chilled fresh milk. UHT fresh milk would be the closest substitute, it's a good idea to always have one or two packets in the pantry.
Depending on what you're making, milk from milk powder may give a different texture. Evaporated milk, though easy to reconstitute with some more water, has a distinctive taste. Condensed milk is out unless you're making something sweet & the reconstituted milk is also way too thin (you could add some milk powder).
