cream cheese frosting

The cream cheese should be cold. The butter can be cold, but it's better to have it at room temperature. Combine in a food processor: 8 ounces cream cheese, 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and 2 to 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar. You can use this same recipe with an electric mixer, just add the powdered sugar in three batches.
