What's another way to cook salmon? and what could I pair it with?!
As for pairing it. Try brown rice or steamed squash.
Enjoy!
Answers: I have found the best way to cook salmon is to pack it in rock salt and bake it in the oven at 500 degrees. Make sure you pack at least 1/4 - 1/2 inch of salt on the bottom, sides and top. When your done simply lift the salmon out and brush it off with a pastry brush. I guarantee this will be the best tasting and most moist salmon you have ever had.

A really easy laksa - place in wok a can of lite coconut milk, a tablespoon of brown sugar and a tablespoon of thai red curry paste, heat until sugar is disolved - add cubed salmon fillets and cover - heat on low for 3 minutes turn and heat a further three minutes. Serve over udon noodles and aspargus spears - yummy and easy
Another way besides what? Pairing...in terms of side dishes or wines?
You can steam, roast, sautee, poach or cook salmon in foil/parchment.
Depending on how you cook it and what spices you use, it could go with chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir or syrah.
In terms of veggies and sides, I like rice or new potatoes, string beans and asparagus.
grilled salmon is AWESOME! i love it!! its great cooked with mesquite grill seasoning (usually used for chicken) ans i usually pair it with wild rice.
Try this sauce.
I don't use exact measurements, just throw everything together according to taste and quantity.
Mix plain yogurt and sour cream - usually just a bit more sour cream than yogurt.
Throw in some diced cucumbers, fresh dill weed, a little onion juice and some lemon juice.
Dash with salt and pepper.
I think it tastes best cold. Put it on top of some plain cooked on a cedar plank. You can search cedar planks online and find where to order or buy one. They make the most wonderful aroma and the food tastes incredible.
Pair with some red potatoes, diced and sauteed in garlic butter, sprinkled with salt and a light salad.
White wine is best.
Any hard crusted bread.
My grandfather in Seattle, where salmon is a food staple, used to make something similar. I have kind of tweaked it to suit my tastes. Let me know what you think!
I cook my salmon in the dishwasher -- don't knock it until you try it. Just place you seasonings on it (I like lemon pepper and garlic), double wrap it in foil, place it on the top rack of the dishwasher (without detergent and dishes), select normal cycle with the dry cycle on and turn it on. When it is done, remove foil package and serve. The salmon literally falls off the bones. For a side dish, I usually serve it with rice and a vegetable.
