Welcome to your 40s...I have the same problem....With garlic as well....and I can forget fried foods of any sort....

If you're breaking out in a rash, or your mouth or skin gets itchy from contact w/any food whether or not you've been ok w/eating it in the past, go to the doctor and get tested for food allergies. These are potentially deadly and can show up at any time in your life. If you were to eat something you were severely food allergic to, your throat could swell up and suffocate you. Unless this is simply an aversion, which is only a change in tastes, I recommend allergy testing.

Sounds like you have developed an allergy to onions. Welcome to my world!

I had the same problem! I developed IBS but hasnt put me off eating them I just make sure im at home near the loo when I eat stuff i know will upset me !

You aren't very specific when you say you can't tolerate them. If you are having swelling or rashes, you might have developed an adult onset allergy and should talk to your doctor about getting a scratch test performed.

If you are having indigestion, well, onions are a harsh food. Welcome to 43. =)

my daughters bad reaction was stomach ache, it turned out to be gall bladder infection, which resulted in removal of same, check with your doctor to be safe.
