I have a 2 pound 7-rib boneless pork rib roast......now what?!
Answers: I am a novice cook, and not much of a meat eater at that. I have an oven, and a large crockpot/slowcooker. Anyone have any good recipes/tips? Thanks!
Yum! You have a wonderful dinner in the making!
You almost cannot go wrong with a pork rib roast, as they 1) should be cooked 'fully' (but not incinerated), 2) can be cooked with absolutely anything you like in terms of sauces, vegetables, wine, etc., 3) can be braised, which is just about the easiest, neatest way to cook a moist, tender roast!
Simple: Put your roast in an oven-safe dish after a bit of seasoning. Season with anything you like - S&P, garlic, onion powder, sage, bay leaf... just pick 2 or 3. Not too many
Next: a bit of liquid. About 1/3 up the meat. (This makes it 'braising', ooooh!) This can be chicken stock (canned is fine) tomato sauce, water spiked with a good slug of wine, beer, anything but milk...
Optional: Your favorite veg! Onion, carrot, celery, rutabaga, turnip, potato, jicama, leeks, whatever! More is merrier!
Cover (lid or foil) and let 'er go at 325 until you get a temp 0f 165 internally. I really do recommend a thermometer. Time cooking assumes a lot about your oven, cookware, the meat the sauce... too many variables.
When you get close (say 145) take the lid/foil off and let it brown a bit and evaporate some of the water from the sauce.
Allow the meat to rest for 15-25 minutes.
Serve over noodles, or rice, or with the vegetables you cooked with it, and some of the sauce! Wheee!
It's a great (and impressive) dinner!
Just put pepper or whatever seasonings you like on it, rubbing in well. Roast in an open pan at 325 for about an hour and a half. I like to stick a couple of cloves in the top but do whatever you like. It's an easy dish to make.
throw it in the crock pot all day with carrots, onions, mushrooms, salt and pepper (or any other seasonings you like)
