Apart from putting them in a salad is there anything else you can do with radishes?!
thanks
Answers: I've been give loads and would love to know if there are any recipes using them.
thanks
Make some coleslaw with them it hots it up a bit,
Put mustard on them and bite into them.
I like to eat them raw and plain
I think I saw Rachel Ray make some kind of salad with them, not in a salad, but A salad.
Also they are great in potoato salads, and I use them as a topping for tacos....
koreans use them as a side dish, chopped finely
wash them cut them up and Lightly salt them
deep fry like a mushroom
I cook them sometimes - they add an interesting flavour to roasted veg and stirfries. slice them thinly and add to the dish near the end of cooking as they only take a minute or two. They kind of go like crisps.
I actually learned this in France. You can take some really nice butter, and some clean whole radishes and dip them in butter with some nice crusty bread. Simple but so good.
good fresh and salty as a snack when drinking a beer.
If you type in radish recipes on your tool bar you will get many ideas to many to even put on here, I just did it to see on Yahoo Search
Stephen Fry suggested "popping one in" (your a*se) in one episode of QI, but I have no intention of trying!
use them in place of onions for things. like when you need small pearl onions use radishes instead. use them in roasts. fritattas or quiche. slice and stuff into fish.
sorry dont know ive never heard of anymore
I've used them in stir-frys before
Try the following
Citrus radish confit
This confit is a sweet, sharp and slightly peppery relish, with a glorious pink colour. Try it with fish, with meat (it's lovely with lamb) and even with bread and cheese.
250g/9oz summer radishes, trimmed, cut into 0.5cm/?in thick slices
? lemon, zest and juice only
? orange, zest and juice only
2 tbsp granulated or caster sugar
25g/1oz butter
salt and freshly ground black pepper
water, to cover
Method
1. Place all the ingredients into a wide shallow pan along with enough water to almost cover the ingredients.
2. Bring up to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer gently for about 30 minutes, stirring from time to time, until all the liquid has reduced down to a few tablespoons of rich buttery syrup and the radishes are very tender. Serve warm (it reheats beautifully).
Take a thick slice of bread, whichever type you like, lightly butter it, cover this with a thick layer of soft white cheese, quark type or similar, or even philadelphia. Sprinkle with thinly sliced radish slices, a good sprinkling of chopped chives, then a litle salt and pepper. Yum!
I know someone already mentioned this but I thought I would put in my two sense. When I lived in France as a little girl, my nanny would always make me radish sandwiches when I got home from school. She would slice them and add just a pinch of salt, then she would butter the bread and put the radishes inside. It is still one of my favorite comfort foods to this day.
