Broiling fish?!

Question: I am going to try and broil fillets tonight.

I have already Marinated it and added blackened seasons.

Any suggestion on how to do it and what to look for while cooking?

Also any other recipes?

It depends on what type of fish. If it's swordfish or salmon, I put them on the grill outdoors and cook for 8-10 minutes or until cooked through. (this keeps the smell out of the kitchen)

If it's a whitefish, I suggest you use foil and only cook for 4-5 minutes.

Not much to it, just make sure you don't overcook. Good luck!

If they are on the small side, I'd fry them.

If they are large pieces, you can wrap them in foil and place in the oven or on a counter top grill. I always like to put a slice of onion on top of the fish when I cook them like this.

Make sure to spray your broiler pan with some kind of cooking spray, otherwise your fish will stick to the pan and come out a mess. Also be careful if lining your broiler pan with foil. Your fish might also stick and taste like aluminum. keep a close eye on it. Depending on the type of fish it could over cook easily. Also only cook it until it is firm and flakey. dont expect it to become completely golden brown other wise you'll over cook it. What r u serving with it? Broiled fish is great served with any kind of wild rice(instant of course, is a huge time saver) and broccoli with a cheese sauce. This meal all together should only take 30 mins. tops.

It depends on what kind of fish you are cooking?

Preheat oven to Broil. Melt butter in cast iron skillet . Coat both sides of meat with melted butter. Sprinkle blackening seasoning on both sides of the meat. Cook uncovered for about 12 minutes.

I hesitate to give any more recipes without knowing what type of fish you are cooking. My favorite is Tilapia, simply grilled or broiled with lemon, garlic and butter.

A little dillweed and lemon juice spritzed on top!

Dip marinated fish fillets in olive oil. Place on greased broiler pan. (skin side down) (if using the oven, preheat to full broil temp.) Broil 2 to 3 inches from heat for 3 minutes. Baste. (reduce heat to 450 if using oven) continue broiling 6 to 7 minutes until firm but flakes easily with a fork. Baste with melted butter, garnish with paprika and serve.
Rule of thumb, broil 10 minutes for each inch of the thickest area of a fillet.

We have tilapia filets about twice a month. I put them on a pan lined with aluminum foil , sprayed with butter flavored Pam, and then bake for around 12-14 minutes.

Broil for just a few minutes... 4 -5. Be careful. Sometimes broiled fish drys out easily.
