Anyone ready for some comfort food?!

Question: Anyone ready for some soup beans with hamhocks ( pinto beans) fried potatoes, collard greens and cornbread?
I need some good ole southern food, like Granny used to make.
Anyone have some from thier Granny they would care to share?

Sure am.........seems like comfort food is on it's way back into fashion......like I always say, the classics NEVER get old......In our area, there are "upscale comfort food" restaurants popping up, namely Bistro West.......their meatloaf and mac & cheese is to die for.......Cream of tomato soup and a grilled cheese always does it for me......(make that 2 grilled cheese) BUT, if feeling lousy, nothing makes me feel better than breakfast for dinner = pancakes w/ butter, sausages and a couple fried eggs......Now I"M hungry.......Oh, and the granny thing, BOTH could cook up a storm, but like the other ladies of their day, nothing was ever written down......Everything to them just "came together"......I remember my one grandmother's cole slaw.......(this is pre-food processors/choppers) I still don't know how the heck she got that cabbage to the size of grains of rice.......amazing patience......

I liked grannys meatloaf she made with brown mustard and rye bread crumbs

My granny makes the best food ever. I love when she's cooking it makes me .........mmmmmmmmm

ham & bean soup & cornbread

My granny would always make banana nut bread with me when I was little. Then we would sit down with a piece hot from the oven, butter melting on it, and watch Jeopardy. That was the one show she would never miss. =) Good times.

Not from my granny but my aunt who lives in NC makes awesome chicken and dumplings. sometimes she cheats and makes the dumplings with buisquick and buttermilk rather than flour. She mixes it and makes a dough stiff enough to roll and then cuts it into little squares. YUM. Hmmm, I'm thinking I might make it for dinner on this icky rainy day.

How about pig tails and lima beans.

How about some homemade buttermilk biscuits and bacon gravy? Or cornbread and Navy beans? Homemade bread with fresh butter and honey.

The soup beans and hamhoack soud excellent. Always liked my grandmothers goulash for some comfort food.

2 pounds Ground beef
1 small Onion; chopped
1/2 Green bell pepper; chopped
1 jar Spaghetti sauce (28 oz. size)
8 ounces Uncooked elbow macaroni
1/2 cup Water
1 tablespoon Garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
1 cup Shredded Mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 2 1/2 quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray

In a large skillet, brown ground beef, onion, and green bell pepper over medium-high heat 6 to 8 minutes, or until beef is no longer pink, stirring frequently. Drain off excess liquid. Add spaghetti sauce, macaroni, water, garlic salt, and black pepper; mix well.

Pour the mixture into baking dish. Cover and bake 25 minutes. Uncover; top with Mozzarella cheese and bake 15 to 20 minutes more, or until cheese has melted and casserole is heated through.

my comfort food consists of instant mashed patatos, microwaved corn, and some chease on top of all that...

it really helps me calm down after a long day at my jobs or an after school snack!!

Well i'm not that well with the oldies cookings but all that I can say is that you can check on internet for something really nice that can help you with that..Sorry!
