you need to marinate deer steak unless you really like the taste of wild game. I would marinate it in garlic, onion powder, worstershire sauce, soy & possibly some cherry juice or touch of honey for sweetness. Marinate for a few hours in a plastic bag and before cooking take the steaks out of the marinade and pat dry
grill using a grill pan or broiler or your BBQ grill!
well first i par boil it with baking soda to get the gamy taste out of it, then i put butter in a frying pan let it melt. i add onions and garlic to it(can us the powder stuff to substitute if you dont have the real stuff) then i put in the venison. I fry on low till the meat is done. it tastes so good and its very easy. if you want it done quicker cook it on medium high.
I have never eaten or cooked DEER STEAK.
If it is a comparatively tender cut as to beef, I would make it the same as BEEF.
I fry sliced onions to golden and then add sliced mushrooms to them and brown slightly -then set aside.
Place your Deer Steak in the same non-stick pan and fry for about 5 minutes to brown shake steak seasoning on before turning to second side and season also cook for about 3-4 minutes. add the onions and mushrooms on top of the steak.
Cook for 1 more minute and turn burner off. Cover and let stand. 2-3 minutes off heat.
Serve with favourite side. Sounds delicious while I'm telling you, what I would do.

Grilled Venison Steaks
Venison Steaks
1/2 cup Heinz 57 Sauce
1/4 cup honey
garlic salt, black pepper
Season venison steaks with garlic salt and black pepper (to taste). Mix 1/2 cup Heinz 57 sauce with 1/4 cup honey. Spread over both sides of steak. Broil at 425 for approximately 20 minutes (or to level of doneness you prefer). Turn once and brush with sauce again. Serve with favorite side dish(es). You can also heat leftover sauce to serve at the table.
The fastest is venison fajitas, and you don't even need a grill. Partially freeze the steak so it's easier to cut, slice it very thin, put it in a ziploc bag and drizzle it with a little Italian dressing. Then sprinkle it with a packet of taco seasoning (or less than a whole packet if the steak isn't very big).
Let the steak sit for a couple minutes while you slice up some onions and green peppers. Using a large skillet or wok, sautee the vegs over med-high heat in vegetable oil (a tablespoon or so...channel Rachael Ray). When the vegs are tender, add the meat and stir-fry until no longer pink.
Remove from heat and serve in soft flour tortillas with your favorite fajita toppings: cheese, sour cream, salsa, jalapenos, black olives, etc...whatever you like. I like to squeeze fresh lime over it when I remove it from the heat, but if you don't have any, don't worry about it.

Unless the steak is from a very young animal, it's going to have a slight gamy flavor. One of the best ways I have found of preparing it is to marinate in Italian dressing (homemade or store bought) overnight for for a few hours, then cook them slowly in a cast iron pan. Even the toughest old buck will turn out tender and flavorful.
Venison steaks are so yummy and if you grew up on them not gamey at all. Which growing up in WI I did alot. The best method I have found for cooking venison is to get your meat tenderiser mallet and tenderizer powder using a combination of the too breaks up the conective tissues enough so its not tough or chewy. But cooking in a light butter sauce with onions and garlic works really well too and I have done so. Also venision roasts are great in the slow cooker. And dont be afraid to try the steak with some Steak sauce also very good.
The best way to eat venison in my humble opinion is simple.
Saute it over medium high heat with a TON of butter, salt and pepper.
It's not creative, I know...but it's by far the best way to eat it!
