The texture might be a little different.

they will taste better. I have always used butter, never shortening.

They may get a little browner around the edges since butter browns more quickly and at a lower temp then shortening, but otherwise, it should be fine. If you are using a glass pan, you should automatically lower the oven temperature 25 deg fahrenheit... and of course you'll have to bake them a l ittle longer. Watch them closely. Remember if you are making the fudgey kind, they'll be moist in center when you take them out of the oven.

They will be delicious! -That's about it.

They will taste better by far!

Unsalted butter - You could put butter and margarine and maybe interchange it in the brownie recipe, but butter has more flavor and I think gives a better texture. Melted butter produces a more fudgy texture. Shortening makes brownies more dense;

So, yes you should use butter!

they will taste better

make sure you use UNSALTED butter ... they'll be next to each other in the grocery store
