What large slow cooker would you recommend?!
Answers: i'm hosting Easter for my whole family and i have some recipes for a slow cooker, which do you recommend?
Get a Smart-Pot (I believe Rival makes it). It is rather large (5 qts - not the biggest, but large), and it has digital settings. It has a timer that you can set that after the countdown the crockpot/slow cooker (synonyms) switched to a keep warming setting.
Remember it is unsafe to have food on keep warm for an extended period of time, as the heat is not enough to keep food safe.
Another good idea is to get crock-pot cooker bags - it will make cleanup easier. Put water under the bag, put in the bag, and put in the food.
Crock Pot
The big, oval shaped ones. they hold a lot & if they have a digital timer w/ automatic shut-off or automatic warming settings.
Any crock pot. It doesnt have to be fancy, just has to have a low, high and warm setting. I personally like Rival but any of them are great. If you are cooking for a larger family, I would recommend at least a 5 quart cooker.
i would recommend crock pot
do you mean brand or size?
mine is about 6 quarts and is a rival. i like it very much.
there are some fancier ones out there, that can do alot more than mine, but mine does have one feature that the basic ones don't...after your finished cooking, you can set it to "hold warm" until your company is all ready:)
that way the stuff doesn't burn/stick.
it also came with a small 1/2 quart (i think), for sauces. great for melting chocolate :)
After trying several others including Rival over the course of 8 years I can say that my All-Clad ceramic insert digital is far and away the best . The keep warm feature is a real savior if i don't get back home on time. Meat comes out really tender unlike the others, and there is almost no evaporation so less liquid can be used. It's 7 qt capacity will cook enough for a crowd.
I have a 6 quart Rival Crock Pot that I bought at Costco and it works really well.
