Do you have any good chicken drumstick recipes? Could I make it like this.....?!
I've made chicken cacciatore baked in the oven (in a dish thing with a lid). My bf likes how the chicken goes nice and tender. I was wondering two things.
1) Could I make a white sauce (or should it be a cheese sauce) and cook the chicken in the oven like that?? Would that taste bad?
2) If I cook the chicken in a the same dish with lid, without any sauce. Will the chicken cook tender? Or will it dry out? Could I just cook it with some garlic and other herbs in there and make like roast chicken drumsticks??
Or would it be best if i'm going to cook it with no sauce, to just cook it on a baking tray?
Answers: We have been having drumsticks more frequently than other chicken lately because its cheaper.

You can bake the drumsitcks with honey and soya sauce and some chilli sauce, keep a lid on it and turn them frequently. Then just before removing sprinkle sesame seeds and roll them around in it. Roast for a further 5 min so the sesames toast. its really nice! YUM! PS: 2)- it will not dry out, though i would only put the garlic in halfway before finished cooking otherwise it might burn and go nasty.
I wouldn't cook the chicken in the sauce, add it after the chicken is cooked. I would like a white sauce better , but that is just a matter of taste.
Your idea of cooking the chicken with garlic and herbs is the best. I personally would brown the drumstick on all sides then put in the covered casserole to finish cooking. It won't be dry.
I love drumsticks. I like to bake them laying on top of cubed sweet potatoes (you can microwave them for a few minutes to give them a head start) red onion, garlic and some olive oil. Rub some rosemary or tarragon on the chicken with salt and pepper. toss the potatoes with the salt and pepper and a smidge of red pepper flake. It goes nice with a crusty bread and the sweet potatoes comeout caramelized on the bottom. Fabulous. 325 degrees for 30-35 minutes. You can also try some rice and chicken with onions. Brown the onions and chickern first and put them in a slow cooker. Add 1 cup of wild rice and 1 cup of cream of mushroom soup and 1 cup of chicken stock to a slow cooker. Yummy- works great with breasts to.
