Why don't they have tri tip in Pennsylvania?!
Answers: My Father-in-law lives in CA and we love Tri tip But PA doesn't have it - or maybe they call it something else although I have never seen anything that looks like it in the store. Maybe I will ask a butcher if no one knows on here. Thanks!!!
Weird, I grew up in the sticks in Pennsylvania and we had tri tip. I was just messaging my dad there and he said you need to get it from the butcher's counter. If you have a "Giant" store, they should have it.
Explain it to the butcher and they'll get it right for you.
Have a good dinner!
i been there once
I grew up in PA and I have absolutely no idea what Tri tip is...
Edit: Ok, a little research says it's a triangular part of the bottom sirloin. Maybe you can explain this to your butcher and he can cut it for you... it's also known as "Santa Maria Steak."
I have heard that it's a particular part of the cow that they do not use there. Actually it seems to be a west coast thing. That cut of beef is only used over here.
I have lived in NY, PA, OH and MI and am a foodie (why else would I be in this room?) and have also never heard of Tri tip. Can you follow up with an explanation or description? Maybe we can help based on that.
I moved to North Carolina, and they don't know what tri tip is here, either, darnit. I've asked the butchers around here about getting it, and they don't have a clue. I did find it once, in the meat department at Wally World. But only once. It sure is a good cut of meat, whether you make a roast or steaks out of it.
Are you sure the spelling isn't TRIPE, I am sure the butchers
in the area would be able to help you out with it.
