While "eating humble pie" means to apologize for a wrong-doing, there are actually recipes for these. Here's one

HUMBLE PIE

3 eggs
1 stick butter, melted
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In a medium bowl, combine eggs, butter, sugar, flour, vinegar and vanilla. Blend well. Pour mixture into pie shell. Bake for 45 minutes.

With your head down, just say "I'm sorry".

Keep your day job:)

First, they have to swallow a healthy dose of their own egos, then they have to stick their mouths shut...

Yeah, that's probably what he means, but there is actually a recipe, and it'd probably be funny if you made it and told them that's what you are serving them. Here it is:

its not a real pie ........... it means admitting when you've been wrong, make a wrong decision, act in a not so nice manner, when you need to say ....... I was wrong, I am sorry; and if appropriate add ........ you were right!
