Help with chocolate chip cookies( baking soda and brown sugar q.)?!

Question: hi i found receipies on youtube on how to make chocolate chip cookies and they all included baking soda and brown sugar and i dont have them both, so...

i heard that i can use 4 times the amount of baking powder to sustitute the baking soda. is that true, and if not then wats the possible sub. for baking soda?

i also wanted to ask if brown sugar is an absolute must, is there a sub. and what will happen if i just used white sugar.

thank you so much.

in the sub. or baking soda use 1tsp of salt and 1 tsp of baking powder. for the brown sugar you can use white sugar in place of the brows the exact amount it calls for. note your cookies will be lighter and not be as full as it would be if you had baking soda but hey that are still good. good luck

Well, don't dump salt in it. 1 tsp. bkg pwdr=1/4 tsp soda+1/2 tsp cream of tartar+1/4 tsp cornstarch. White sugar will make your cookies "sandy". Use less than you would with brown sugar. By the way, the recipe for the cookies is on the bag of chocolate chips.
