Plain Damper =
Damper is an Aussie traditional bread, usually baked in the ground

2 cups self raising flour,
1/2tsp salt,
1 1/2 cups milk,
1tsp sugar,
1tsp butter.

Method:
Sift the flour, sugar and salt into a bowl and then add the butter, add enough milk to make a manageable dough. Shape into a flat ball and place on a greased and floured oven tray, bake at 220c(400f) for 25-30 mins, baste with milk during cooking.

Serve hot...with lashings of butter (golden syrup and jam, goes very well with this bread)

G`day, self raising flour, water and salt to your taste. Cheers, Skezza.

Here is one for you....

The Australian Outback "Damper" (Bread):
2+1/2 cups Self-Raising Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Butter
1 teaspoon Sugar
1 cup Milk (or use about 1/2 cup of powdered milk and
about 1 cup water)

If baking indoors, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix together the dry ingredients and the butter.

Add the liquid and mix well. Knead for about 5
minutes.

Shape into a flattened ball and place on a greased and
floured baking sheet or in a greased and floured round
cake tin.

Bake for 30 minutes.

Use a Dutch oven if you are cooking in an open fire
and use your experience as to cooking time.

Serve as moderately thick slices while still fairly
hot, buttered and spread with golden-syrup or jam.
