What's your best crockpot recipe that's not pot roast?!
Answers: Recipe, please.
We love this one:
Rice and Beans and Sausage
3 celery ribs, chopped
1 onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 3/4 cups V8 juice (or tomato juice)
2 16 oz. cans kidney beans, drained
3/4 tsp dried oregano
3/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/2-3/4 tsp. red pepper flakes (less if you don't like spicy)
1/2 tsp pepper
2 lb. fully cooked smoked kielbasa cut into 1/4 inch slices.
4 cups cooked rice
Combine all ingredients except rice in slow cooker. Cover. Cook on low 4-6 hours. Serve over rice. Yummy!!
I do, BBQ chicken, lasagna, pork roasts, soup, stew, chili. Yes all in the crock pot. And all get raved over!
chile verde
2 to 3 lbs pork roast
jar of your favorite green salsa(i use heredez), or a can of green enchilada sauce.
put pork and salsa in pot. cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours.
remove pork and shred with two forks. serve with tortillas and green salsa.
Not a recipe really, just a hint. I often put a whole chicken in the crockpot with about 1/2 cup water, and I liberally salt the chicken with celery salt.
After cooking, I let it cool then remove all the meat from the bone and freeze it in packages of about 1 lb each. Then I have chicken ready for anything from soup to tetrazzini to chicken helper or rice -a-roni. It's an easy way to prepare ahead for nights that you have to pull something together fast. I also refrigerate the broth overnight, remove the fat then freeze the broth. Yummy for soup.
In St Louis..they sell pork steaks. which is basically a sliced pork butt..
I take this and tie it back up place in the crock pot.. pour a bottle of Tereaki sauce over it and cook.....
I do a beef and a chicken stew in the Crock pot. Brown chicken or stew beef put in crock pot add vegetables and your favorite seasonings and either chicken broth or beef broth and set on low for 6 hours. The vegetables that I add are carrots, potatoes, onion, garlic, any kind of pepper green, yellow, red, orange. If you like things spicy add some pepper flakes and serve over rice at the very end about 10 minutes before you serve add frozen string beans or peas so that you have a green vegetable also. I serve it with a salad.

I don't use onion (my husband doesn't like onions) and use boneless spareribs as the meat. And I use Sweet Baby Ray's bbq as suggested by the recipe. I know it seems weird that ginger ale is in it but it's SO good. I usally don't cook it ask long as the recipe says either. I put in on high for 6-8 hours.
Ribs! Buy a rack of pork ribs. Cut them into sections of about 4 or so ribs per piece. Completely cover the ribs with water and cook for 4 hours on low. Drain the water and cover them with about 2 cups of BBQ sauce. Cook for another 4 hours on low. They are AWESOME!
Take a 5 lb sirloin tip roast and put it in your crockpot. Pour a packet of Good Seasons Italian dressing mix over the roast. Then pour a small jar of pepperoncini over top of that....cover and let go on low for 6-8 hrs til falling apart. Serve on crusty rolls for about the best Italian beefs ever!
#1 form your meatloaf recipe and cook it in there..delicious..
.#2 take 4 cube steaks...cover with salsa...cook for 6-8 hours...serve over rice...mmm....so many things you can cook in there!!
