Mmmmm..... "S'mores" - Is there ANYTHING better?!

Question: So, my family and I just sat around the fire enjoying some scrumptious S'mores.... Great fun, yummy treats, that nostalgic feeling of childhood...it just does not get any better for me!! :)

What are some OTHER great campfire treats or past-time fun around the fire you guys can think of?

I'd LOVE to hear them!! :))

Banana Boats

Banana
Chocolate
Marshmallows
Tinfoil

Leave banana in peel. Slice it horizonally, (Not fully through, only through top of banana and peel! NOT IN HALF). Open it up and put in chocolate and marshmallows. Wrap in tinfoil and heat over fire.

Baked Campfire Apples

1 Apple, per serving
Brown Sugar
Raisins, Nuts and/or Red Hot Cinnamon Candies
Heavy Aluminum Foil

Core upper part of apple leaving bottom half intact. Fill center with raisins, nuts and candies. Add brown sugar to taste. Double wrap apple in aluminum foil and place on hot coals for 20 minutes.

yes smores are a fun delicious treat for the family around the fire
it is a whole other level from just roasting marshmellows...Sooo Much Better* i can't think of anything that can get much better than that*~ :)

i was just craving smores...im gonna make some tomarrow after i go to the store...no nothing is better

s'mores are just about the best dessert EVER! I'm so jealous that you're eating them, and I'm not!
The only other thing I have made over an open flame is hot dogs and corn on the cob!

I wouldn't consider it a "treat" but my kids liked hot dogs that were sliced half way down in about 8 different slices and then put on a stick and put over the fire...the slices would curl up and we called them "spider dogs"....they just loved them even though they normally wouldn't eat hot dogs.

Smores...have you ever tried Oreo cookies with the chocolate cream, roast a marshmellow and put it in the center. Oh my!!! Sorry I don't have a story to share.

well i know this sounds wrong but...we would roast some potatoes while wrapping it with Aluminum Foil and wait for 4 minutes and it'll be really good...thats my opinion.. :P

i love pie irons with cheddar cheese and apple pie filling...

I love smores and am craaaaving them now! I also think well cooked hot dogs (or better- SMOKIES!!) are great over a fire, with a lightly toasted hot dog bun... and Alphagetties are the ultimate camp food! Oh- and cherries- cause you can just spit the pits into the firepit- and peanuts with shells- and spitz. Ohhhh I want to go camping!

The Banana Boat sounded so cool I stopped what I was doing and made one. Wow you get my vote. I did kick it up a tad and used graham crackers to make s'mores. Kind of a hybrid between a s'more and a banana boat.

I don't think so, smores are AMAZING!!!!!!!

But cinnamon rolls are just as good!!

These are some recipies that i learned at camp.

Hawaiian Oranges

Oranges
Brown Sugar
butter

Cut an orange into slices. Then sprinkle brown sugar onto them, and smear butter. You can add other things for an extra taste, like candy or chocolate. Then rap it in tinfoil and
put it in the fire for two or three mins. Then sink your teeth in it's deliciousness

Chicken and Cheese raps

Chicken
Cheese
Bread

Yummy! Not really a treat, but tasty. Take pre-cooked chicken, any kind of cheese, bread or anything else lying around the kitchen and rap it in tinfoil. Then let it sit in the fire for a while. Then open it. MMMMMMMMmmmmmmm.....

Fun activities would be telling jokes, or having a family talent contest. Make up skits. - Happy Campfires!

Hi, as a family in winter...when we had a an open fire, we would toast 'crumpets' from the heat of the fire. The taste was fantastic, a slight flavour of the burning wood and the melting butter dripping through the pores of the 'crumpet' and then we would place a thin slice of Lancashire cheese on the top. Heaven.
