How do bakers make cakes with people's pictures on them?!
Answers: is the picture on the cake edible?
I decorate cakes for a living and have a special printer with special edible ink I use for this purpose. I purchase frosting sheets which are a very thin layer of frosting on a paper backing. I take the picture I want to reproduce, photo-shop it if I need to and print it out.
I peel off the backing and position it on the freshly frosted cake and pipe an edging around it. It soon adheres to the frosting and becomes a part of the cake.
HTH!
The picture is edible, but I don't think it tastes good. They use sugar paper!
A friend of mine just did one for her son's Eagle Scout Court of Honor. She ordered it on line and it came screen painted on an edible piece of paper and she had to peel it and lay it on the cake.
It looked pretty neat.
She had a red velvet cake with off white cream cheese icing and the prints looked great on it and you could not tell there was even a taste to them.
