Do Eggs have to be refridgerated?!
However when I traveled overseas (s.e asia..australia) they all kept there eggs on the counter and never int eh fride which I though was odd.
My question is, can I also keep my eggs on the counter or overseas do they use a different type of egg that doesnt have to be refridgerated?
Answers: I am from Canada, and here we would think no different then to store eggs in the fridge, it even says it on the carton.

Hi I am from Australia and I do keep my eggs in the fridge to lengthen their use by date. If you do leave them out and yes you can it just means that you need to use them quicker. Days or weeks depending how fresh they are. A quick test is to place the egg in a of water if it floats to the top it is off throw it away.
i would store them in fridge...i have heard of other places store them on the shelf but in the states they are always stored in the refridge
Refrigerate them. I mean, why chance it? What benefit is there to not refregerating them?
They could be using fresh eggs. Fresh eggs can be kept at room temperature although I still like to refrigerate mine.
Raw eggs in the shell are fine on the sehlf, NOT refrigerated, for 3-4 months. In Europe, eggs are sold on the shelf next to teh flour and sugar.
Once eggs are hard-cooked, they must be refrigerated as the membrane that kept them safe when raw is no longer in place to do so after cooking.
They aren't supposed to sit out for more than 2 hours. When we decorate eggs for easter it says to not leave them out for more than 2 hours if they are going to be consumed.
They need to be refrigerated to keep them fresh.
You won't get salmonella from leaving your eggs out, but , having said that, they won't keep as long either. Most people put their eggs in the fridge once they get them home. Our homes tend to be a lot warmer than the grocery stores are.
don't use eggs after their best by date.
In other countries, eggs are NOT washed prior to being sold. Here in the US, the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) requires poultry eggs to be washed in an antibacterial agent and then rinsed twice. When a chicken lays an egg, there is a natural protective membrane (remember, the original intent here is to produce a living chick) is removed in the USDA required process. That's why the eggs here in the States must be refrigerated......To me, it's a useless and stupid law, I've lived in Europe (back in the 70's) and NEVER saw an egg refrigerated there.....And I'm alive and healthy......
