375 degrees, about 1/2 hr a pound in a roasting pan preferably with a rack under it. If no rack cut some onions in half and put the roast on top. Fat side up,do not cover.
Gravy; when roast is done save the juices in the roasting pan, add a cup of water and some gravy thickener and cook on top of the stove, don,t overcook.

Easy Tender Pot Roast (slow cooker recipe)

1 2 lb. chuck roast
flour
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 Pk. dry onion soup mix
Salt and pepper
1 cup water or beef broth
5 cups of vegetables cut into bite size pieces (potatoes, onions, carrots, celery)

Sprinkle roast with flour, salt and pepper. Heat oil on med. high heat in a large frying pan. Brown roast on all sides about 10 to 15 mins. Place roast in slow cooker and sprinkle with dry onion soup mix. Spread vegetables around roast and pour in water or beef broth ( I use beef broth). Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or high for 4 to 6 hours. For the gravy. When roast is done, remove roast and vegetables to a platter and keep warm. In 1 cup of water add 3 tbsp of flour and whisk until smooth and there's no lumps. Stir into liquid in slow cooker and cook until thick.

I add salt, pepper, onions or onion pwd and garlic powder. I put it in the oven for 1/2 and hour at 400 degrees. After a half hour I turn it down to 350 and add some boiling water and cook till done. Then I drain the juice into a pot and let it come to a back to a boil. I mix some water with flour to and strain it into the broth to thicken. Hope this helps.
