PLEASE!!! Can someone tell me how to cook rice!?!?!

Question: My wife went to the store a few minutes ago and she told me that she wanted me to cook 2 cups of rice!!! She said she'll be gone for an hour and that i have plenty of time to "figure it out"

I don't know how to cook that crap!!! This is a big night!!! My son's significant other is coming over for dinner in the next hour please help!!!

There's a small silver box with two holes in it that she used to cook bread in, I don't know, do I use that?

Please help!!! The only thing I know how to make is noodles in the microwave!!!

Here's How:
Rinse the rice in water to get rid of excess starch.
For every cup of rice, add 1 1/2 cups water.
Bring the rice to boil, uncovered, at medium heat.
When boiling, turn the heat down to medium low.

Place the lid on the pot, keeping it tilted to allow steam to escape.
When you can see holes or "craters" in the rice, put the lid on tight.
Turn the heat to low.
Simmer for another 15 minutes.
Fluff up rice and serve.
Tips:
For best results, use long grain rice.
For a bit of variety, try one of the scented rices, such as jasmine. The amount of the water required and the cooking time will be less than for other types of long grain rice.

Good luck! ;)

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a covered saucepan. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1 cup of rice. When the water returns to a boil, reduce the heat to low, stir and cover. Cook 15 minutes. Add 1 pat of butter, stir, replace the cover and remove from the heat. Let it sit about 5 minutes, or so.
P. S. The recipe is always twice as much liquid as rice.

If you don't have a rice cooker, just boil 3 cups of water on the stove. When boiling, add rice. Stir and when it comes back to a boil, turn it to low heat, put the lid on it and let it cook for 20 minutes.3 cups water, 2 cups rice. And no, you do NOT add seasonings to plain white rice.

I don't know what that silver box is but use the stove to be safe. If it's minute rice, you will see the recipe on the box but judging from your panic, I'd say you've got regular rice on your hands.
Most rice cooks with double the water over the rice quantity so to cook two cups of rice do this:

boil 4 cups of water with a dash of salt and a bit of butter.
Add the rice and cover then turn the heat on the burner down to between 3-4 and time 12-15 minutes. When all the water is evaporated (around that timeframe) take it off the burner and leave it with the lid on for five minutes. After that five minutes is up fluff it with a fork and a bit of butter.

If you've got chicken stock on hand you can substitute it for the water for extra flavour but if not, water will do.

Hope it goes well!

Pour water into a meduim sized pot and use alittle bit of salt in water (dont salt after or there will be a bad taste). Then bring water to a boil(on high) and then pour in some rice. you need to test the rice every 5 or so minutes until the rice is soft enough for you.

long grain rice (1 teacup for two persons) boil in water with a a pinch of salt until cooked, keep tasting until rice is firm but no longer crunchy. about 10-15 mins. drain and rinse with a kettle of boiling water, serve immediately. basmati rice as above but soak for half an hour before cooking.
