I just use the egg shell itself. When you break the egg in half, tilt one of the shell halves up to keep the yolk in it, then just transfer it to the other shell half and repeat that until just the yolk remains in the shell.

crack it and hold the egg over a bowl and easily open a little part of the egg holding it together..The white will come out ..just hold on too the egg so the yolk doesn't slip out.

i'm not sure that you can do it without getting a little messy! the easiest way is to crack the egg into a bowl and simply pick up and discard the yolk. another way is to crack the egg in half, moving the yolk from one half shell to the other while the egg white drips into a bowl below. just get it over with then wash your hands!!!

Just make a very small crack in one side and let the white run out. It's easy and fairly neat. If you do it right you won't get any on your hands. GOOD LUCK!

The trick to separating eggs is to remove the yolk from the white without breaking the former into the latter. Passing the yolk from shell to shell is a popular method, but moving a yolk between two sharp-edged objects is not the best way to keep it whole. First, crack the egg against a flat surface (edges of bowls and counters tend to push shards of eggshell inwards, threatening the yolk). Then pass the yolk between your hands, letting the white fall between your fingers and into a bowl.

I too use the egg shell. Break egg in half over a bowl, toss the yolk back and forth between the two halves of the shell letting the whites go into the bowl.

I use the eggshell, but I've read where that can be slightly dangerous if the shell's contaminated. I've also used a small colander or slotted spoon over a bowl. The whites fall through and the yolks remain behind.

For a very small investment, $6.50, you can purchase an EGG SEPARATER. I bought mine from Pampered Chef and it just clips on to the side of a bowl, and you crack the egg into it. The white drains into the bowl, and you are left with the yolk. WORKS GREAT :)

I normally use Kwells method there..
but I suppose you could just use a slotted spoon and the yolk will remain in the spoon and the whites can run out into a bowl if you want to save them for later.

After you do it 40 years using the shell it's no longer messy. You can do it in your sleep. I don't even think about it anymore. It just comes second hand. You will get better the more you seperate them.
