Oatmeal -- old fashioned or quick cooking. How do they make it quick cooking? What's the difference?!

Question: The second lady is partially right old fashion is the most natural the oats are just rolled and flatten then packaged, for quick or instant they go through a number of stages, mainly they steam them re-rolled them and then dry them until completley dry and package them again, as she said quick is 3-5 minute, instant is one minute, old fashion can take up to 8-10 minutes to be ready.

I am a former chef and eat oatmeal everyday, so I know, and I like the quick more it is nuttier and has a btter texture when cooked, instant is to mushy and old fashion is just to crunchy for me.

Chuck it in a bowl with milk and microwave it for 2 minutes
Just as good as boiling it but much quicker and cleaner

They cut the oats thinner so they cook faster. Quick cooking usually takes 5 min, instant takes 2 min, steel-cut takes 30.
