In turkey on holiday, i went for a meal & the salad was sprinkled with a red powder, any ideas what it may be!

Question: Possibly paprika, it is sometimes roasted to give it a lovely smokey flavour. But it more likely sumac - sumac, a tart flavoured red spice used in salads and sprinkled over rich food to stop the cloying flavours overpowering your taste buds!
