Do you wash lettuce or cabbage when making salad or cooking?!

Question: Yes. Definitely. All vegetables (and fruits) should be washed.

I grew up picking lettuce out of my grandma's garden. If it is really good lettuce it has been grown organically in fertilized soil. Anything grown in fertilized soil definitely should be washed - - very well.

P.S. And, if it is not grown organically, it is probably sprayed with bug repellents. Another reason to wash it well.

. . . speaking of bugs . . . If it is really good lettuce there might be at least one smart bug chewing on it. Another reason to wash it well.

And, if you did not, personally, pick it out of the garden, it has probably been touched by at least two people before you bought it at the grocery store. (The person who picked it from the garden. And the person who put it on the shelf in the grocery store.) (And, perhaps, 10 shoppers before you!) Another reason to wash it well.

Usually not if it's being cooked. I might give it a quick rinse if I were boiling cabbage.

As for lettuce, ALWAYS! Especially when making a salad. There is all kinds of dirt on lettuce.

I wash all fruits and vegetables before cooking or eating them.
