How do i cook lambs liver?!
Answers: is it better to fry it or put it in the oven? when do i put the onions with it?
coat your liver in a little seasoned flour and fry on pan, when liver is almoet cooked put in your onions, let simmer for a few mins. and add a little water, simmer another 10 mins and add bisto, lovely !!!!!
fry in butter, with onions,
fry it ,its much better, add the onions to the frying pan after the liver has browned and sealed itself otherwise they get bloody and look awful,
Go to Recipezaar on google you'll find lots of different ways to cook it
I prefer it fried , with the onions. Remove from pan , keep warm. Add bisto and water to pan to make nice thick gravy. serve with mash potato. Lovely/// You can do it in the oven in a casserole with onions and veg(peas etc) but although nic , prefer the fried. I also cover the liver pieces in flour before frying. gives a nice crispy coating..
yes fry like descibed above, but also you might thing of deep fry with breading, takes away all the blood and very tender ;)
First of all DON'T add Bisto, you want to taste the liver not artificial flavour.
I do mine like this, I roll it in a little seasoned flour.
I melt a little fat in a pan and fry off some sliced onions and some bacon then until browned then remove from the pan. I put in the liver and just brown it both sides then put back the bacon and onion.
I barely cover it with boiling water, season with salt and pepper and simmer for about 10 minutes until the liver is just cooked.
I make a paste out of either flour and water or cornflour and water and stir in slowly, stirring all the time that thickens the gravy and the only flavours you get are rich and tasty from your ingredients.
We love it done in the oven as a casserole and it`s great. Firstly, soak your liver in some milk ( this removes that sour taste that you sometimes get ). Put into a casserole dish with some onions, carrots and potatoes. Season to taste, cover with stock of your choice and place in a pre-heated oven 350F,180C or gas mark 4 for an hour or until the potatoes are cooked.
cut into strips.
coat with seasoned flour
fry some smoked bacon in a pan with a little butter and then add the liver and brown it
add chicken stock and gently simmer until the sauce thickens
Liver should be just cooked in the middle
Serve with some gently braised red onions and mashed potato
