What should I throw in a slow cooker with a 3 1/2 pound chicken?!
Answers: I love to eat good food, but I'm not much of a chef. I have potatoes, carrots, and some seasonings. What has worked for you? Or if you were making this for dinner today, what would you add to the mix?
This is delicious
2 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
3-4 carrots, peeled and cut in chunks
1 onion, chopped
1 rib celery, chopped
1 cup frozen lima beans
1 1/3 cups water
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
10 3/4 -oz. can cream of chicken soup
1. Rinse chicken. Pat dry. Place in slow cooker.
2. Add potatoes, carrots, onion, celery, lima beans, water, salt, and
pepper.
3. Pour cream of chicken soup over all.
4.Cover. Cook on low 3-4 hours.
Try celery, pearl onions, a little low-sodium (or salt free) chicken stock, and herbs like thyme and rosemary.
Also, make sure the chicken is well seasoned, and put the herbs in the cavity of the chicken with a few pats of butter.
That will really help flavor the whole pot!
Potatoes, carrots, onion and celery. I am also a garlic lover so I would definitely add some. For chicken rosemary and thyme are also great choices. Good Luck
onion, celery, carrots, potatoes -- you can use spices like:
garlic, rosemary, sage, thyme (or some poultry seasoning)
Add one can of chicken broth first and then your water -- it will really help intensify the flavors
So.......slow cooker. This is a great way to cook. Yes put the potatoes in there for sure. Cube them up so they cook. User your seasoning as you like. Herbs work the best. If you have a lemon or lemon juice you could put that in there. If you have some rice, you could put some chicken stock in the bottom of the slow cooker with the chicken and rice, and you have a quick side dish.
Bell peppers, onions, oregano, sage, pepper, rosemary, green onions/scallions
I'd season the chicken with pepper and garlic, pour BBQ sauce over it, add a bay leaf, and cook until the juices run clear.
just add potatoes &curry powder. You will make a super dish.

I cook chicken in my slow cooker with two packets of McCormick chicken gravy mix, water, onions, bell peppers and garlic and of course seasonings.
I also use Slow cooker Italian Chicken (It is with the gravy mixes at walmart) and two cans of stewed tomatoes.
I also cook chicken in the slow cooker with my favorite pasta sauce (chicken spaghetti)

You can wrap potatoes in foil and place them at the bottom of the slow cooker and a seasoned chicken on the top of the potatoes and this bakes your tatters and roast your chicken because the potatoes lift the chicken out of the liquid so that it roasts and not boils in the juice...so yummy
