add more butter and cook them a few minutes less.

Cut the baking time by a few minutes, and put them in an air-tight container for storage.

wrap them in foil while still hot

Warm them in the microwave before you go to school, or leave them somewhere hot until the next day.

Put them in between the slices in a loaf of bread and seal the bag. The cookies will absorb the moisture in the bread. This will work for any cookies, store bought and home made. Don't leave them in too long, or they will fall to pieces.

I have yet to suceed in that department! But maybe you can buy those pre-made ones. Those always stay chewy! Good Luck!

yeah, there has to be else they wouldn't be selling those mushy ones in Super fresh.

What I do is put a piece of bread in the container with the cookies and that will keep them chewy and un-hard for a long time.

when you first take them out of the oven, wrap them in foil or in a container immediatly. They should stay fresh for a while, maybe even days.

Yeah... that gets annoying. They get hard as bricks as soon as they cool off. I learned a little trick that REALLY helps.

When the cookies are done cooling off... put them in a baggie with a piece of bread or two. It sounds pretty weird... but it really does work. They'll stay soft for several days to come. I'd just take the bread out a few minutes before you get to school.

Hope that helps!! =]

Underbake them buy a couple of minute or so.

cut the baking time by a few minutes and then put siran wrap around them when you take them out.. they'll stay chewy...YUMM!

Yes, I make cookies for my dad's coffee and muffin store and it stays chewy for few days but not weeks. You have to have the best ingredients such as high quality butter (ample amount) and liquid eggs. It also depends the proportions of ingredients and how long you keep it in the oven. Seal the cookies tight from air getting inside and you can probably keep it chewy for a week. If its chewy for over a week, you shouldn't eat it because it's probably going to be detrimental to your health.

put a peice of sliced bread in the contaner that you put the cookies in...it really works!!

If you cut the baking time by a few it will make them chewy, but make sure not too much or they will be undercooked just by about 3-4 min. they will still seem not done when you pull them out but will harden a bit upon standing

Even when we close them up tightly, they will still lose some of their chewiness. The bought ones keep their chewiness.

Store them in an airtight container like tupperware with fresh bread. This is an old trick that my grandma used to use and it always works. I swear by it! You sacrifice a few slices of bread to save the cookies.

The best instruction for this issue was done by Alton Brown, on his show "Good Eats"

He did Chocolate Chip cookies 4 ways, and each way produced different textures.

For softer cookies I believe it was butter and white sugar. For crisper cookies it was shortening and brown sugar.

yes if you add some liquid to the mix and keep them wrapped

i am a chewy only cookie kinda girl! not overbaking is a good starter!! storing in airtight container with bread works too i hear a lot.

another thing that i think makes a chewy cookie is not using butter....use crisco or the butter flavored crisco. using just butter i think makes a harder cookie..but start with not overcooking them!

putting them in the microwave will soften them right up too but won't work if you are putting them out to share!

good luck and enjoy!!

Yes; and part of it is to use half brown sugar and half white in the recipe for the total amount of sugar. The brown sugar keeps them soft and chewy.
