Did my soup spoil?!

Question: I had a cup of vegetarian vegetable soup in a little plastic tub with a lid. I was unable to go to the kitchen while at work to refrigerate, so I had it sitting out for about 6 hours.
It was refrigerated before and after.

Is it okay to eat the soup?

I would also throw it out. It's not just the bacteria that you have to worry about, but also the toxins they release as part of their respiration process. Just because you kill all the bacteria by boiling the soup doesn't mean you destroy their waste products.

Just nuke it.

I bet it's fine. Personally, I would just get it really hot in the microwave, I wouldn't serve it to anyone else, though LOL

oh yeah, it should be fine! as long as the soup was covered so no bugs could get into the soup, and if it was only a few hours, then the soup should be okay. The only thing you should do before you eat it is smell it and make sure there is no funny smell...or if something doesn't seem right about the soup. happy eating!

See I have to disagree with all the answers I read, I believe when in doubt throw it out... I wouldn't eat it

Probably...although the FDA probably would say no. The usual rule is 2 hours in the danger zone of 40-140 degrees. I would make sure that the whole thing comes to a good boil for al least 5 minutes - that means all the way through.

I wholeheartedly agree with Kimberlee. Throw it out! Is your health worth the cost of that tub of soup?
