How do you smoke salmon?!


Question: I only know how to cook salmon in the oven. How do you smoke cook it?

If you get fresh salmon from the store you can smoke it on the BBQ. Just add soaked apple wood chips on some hot coals off to the side of your fish. Cover and let cook for about 3 min. on each side or until fish is still juicy and flakes apart.

In a smoker.

It's an outdoor cooker, vaguely like a bbq.

Dry it out and put it in a pipe. Not sure about the high.

best shredded finely and rolled up in a hand rolled ciggy

bit pungent but rather mellow

4 cups brown sugar

2 1/2cups pure salt

6 tblspoons pepper

2 tblspoons cayenne

4 tbls garlic powder


Cut salmon into squares about 2 to 3 inches thick and 4 inch squares. Marinate 10 to 12 hours in brine solution (make sure all salmon is immersed). Rinse under cold water. Cook 1 bottle of wine and 2 pounds sugar just until sugar dissolves (don't boil). Marinate first in this for 1 hour. Place fish on racks to dry slightly (should have nice coating on it). Place on racks in smoker and smoke 10 to 12 hours. (8 hours for smaller pieces.) Add smoking chips every hour or 1 1/2 hours (hickory chips are good).
Note: Put skin side up and smaller pieces on top shelf.
