Wondering if anybody would know what this is called..?!

Question: I went to this restaurant last weekend and on their buffet they had some kind of rice looking stuff, and it seemed to have alot of butter in it, with really tiny shrimp mixed in. It tasted really "seafoodish" (if that makes any sense). It was really good, and they didn't have it labeled what it was. And I'm wondering if anybody knows what it might be?

could be pretty much anything.. just call the restaurant and tell them that you loved it and were wondering what it was called.

could it be paella?
(pronounced pa-eh-a )

only ricy seafood dish that springs to mind
usually has other seafood/shellfish in it though
could be their own version

Well my first reaction was that it was some sort of fried rice.... probably shrimp fried rice.

But then I wondered if it couldve been some form of Shrimp Scampi and Rice dish. Without seeing and tasting it, this would be my best guess.
Shrimp Scampi is just that.... buttery, garlicky, and of course, full of shrimp!

In Cajun cooking we have what is called "Etouffee".(pronounced "ed..too..fay").which basically means smothered...usually a nice buttery gravy with seafood or chicken served over rice...you can add cajun seasoning or make it as hot as you like...but it's a wonderful thing!!

Someone spilled their shrimp cocktail in the hot butter crab dip.
