my mom always did bisquick drop buscuits right on top of the beef stew them put the lid on and steamed them. YUM! there is no other way to do that cause you can scoop it right up and its awesome. If she didn't do that, we always had butter bread. There isn't a whole lot you need to have with beef stew, its filling. Bread is your best bet, and a nice wine.

Rice, some type of bread, a staple.

Out of time , but a loaf of 7 grain bread to mop up the gravy

Baking powder biscuits (very quick and easy especially if you do a drop biscuit method)
Or
Corn Bread
Or Hard Rolls

A salad would be nice as well

def 7 grain bread (toast!), or cornbread?

The stew is a complete meal by itself. Bread and butter and a salad of crisp greens and tomatoes. Jell-O salad.

i usually add carrots, potatoes and peas. the rice will be on the side. lots of garlic and onion green and yellow bell peppers.

i boil my stew first or i just all of it in a crock pot if i am pushed for the time to make it. when i come home it's finished.

nothing,,,,,,thats the joy of beef stew...

simply serve it with any kind of bread...texas toast to rolls or garlic bread or home made bread and some salad or yogurt if you wish.

My mum always made "dumplings" which I think in the USA you call drop biscuits. Rub butter an flour together and drop spoonfulls on the stew and cover and simmer till a knife comes out clean. They are the best. Other wise a fresh crunchy roll with butter :)

i would do some rice or pasta,,,, a good bread like sour dough,,,, and a apple cobbler

Rice is a good side, plus serving the stew over the rice is a new idea, serving it in large sized crusty bread rolls so the gravy soaks in to the bread is very yummy, fresh veggie filled lettuce salads are good, fruit salads, fresh biscuits. I wont say potatoes as Im sure like most stews you added potatoes to the mix.

For my beef stews we have garlic french bread cut in to thick hunks so we can ladle the stew over the top, it soaks all that lovely juice in, and then the garlic flavor gets in to the stew its soooooo good. I serve a salad with plenty of chopped carots, celery, cucumber, peppers, craisins, pecans or honeyroasted almonds and a great light vinegarette. And of course a good mugh of mulled hot cider to wash it all down

peach cobbler its amazing and quick and easy to make i made it two weeks ago with my stew and it went great with it!!

Usually it's bread or biscuits. Almost anything else is in the stew already.

But if your stew is very potatoe heavy and you don't want another high carb food, I'd suggest you just skip to dessert and make a nice pie.

Two options I can think of.
1. CORNBREAD God's perfect food.
2. Small sourdough bread round loaves (supermarket) - cut off the top and use the loaf as a bowl.
Enjoy!
