How do you properly wash mushrooms?!
just wipe them with damp wash cloth, trim and and go.
Answers: i take damp paper towel and just wipe off the dirt. Alton Brown on his show Good Eats did an experiement a few years back about mushrooms, and it is actually a myth about the whole water thing and turning them rubbery and/or adding too much water. He soaked mushrooms in water for over an hour and they maybe gained an ounce.
just wipe them with damp wash cloth, trim and and go.
it is not recommended you wash mushrooms because it ruins the texture. wipe them with a dry cloth/towel.
they say you shouldnt wash them because it tends to make them rubbery..personally i wash mine..i cook mushrooms all the time and wiping them with the mushroom brush doesnt get all the dirt off...
Just put them in a collander and rinse them briefly under cool water. Shake off most of the water and I like to let them dry a bit on paper towels so they don't slip out of my hands when I'm trying to cut them.
It's a food myth that you should never wash your mushrooms, and clean them only by wiping with a damp cloth or using a mushroom brush. Mushrooms may soak up a bit of water, but not enough to affect their flavor or texture in my experience.
You don't. you brush them with a vegetable brush and lightly rinse them. I was a cook for 25 years and this is how we were always told to clean mushrooms.
Wipe with a damp paper towel....do not put under running water make them spongy.
I lightly brush them with a soft mushroom brush, and quickly rinse them with cool water.
Then pat them dry with a paper towel.
