Get real cream ( whipping or double) Or if you make chocolate cake you can make a ganache. It's when you heat the cream up and add chocolate. When you've mixed it and all choc is melted, then you leave it for a while to thicken and spread it on. White choc is lovely in it! I can't remember the measurements, but if you do a search on google you should get a good recipe! Good luck

Whipping cream, put it in a bowl and whisk it until it is stiff.

double cream whipped up until stiff spread onto it will hold its shape for a long time if you keep the cake in the fridge after. You can add icing sugar to it as you beat to make it sweet or cocoa to make it chocolate etc.

why not use buttercream?

depends on what your looking for, try whipping cream or make your own butter cream.

<chef i`m not, buttercream is my advice as no melty melty

Maybe try clotted cream thats quite firm and ab fab with croissants in the morning!
