On the PBS Show "America's Test Kitchen" they tried a bunch of different types of beer for a beer, beef, and onion stew and they discovered that the Dark O'Dules Non-Alcoholic Beer came in second after the $10.00 a bottle Belgium beer that was called for in the Recipe.

SECOND PLACE!

And this stew used Beer as half the liquid!

I was REALLY surprised... And so were they!!

So yes... Go right on ahead and use a dark O'Dules Non-Alcoholic Beer. It should come out just fine.

(O’Dules is spelled wrong… But you will know what it is when you see it at the store.)

If you can find an equivalent stout beer, then yes.
If not, then skip it all together.

Most non-alcoholic beers are ales or lagers and won't offer the same flavor as a stout beef.

Alcohol in beer burns off. Beer has a good flavor and it also acts as a meat tenderizer. Stick with the alcohol in beer. It makes a difference. Also, try beer biscuits once...you will love them Beer has yeast remember.

O'Doule's doesn't taste anything like Guinness. If you want the authentic taste, use Guinness. If you cook it all day (the idea of using a crock pot), there won't be a drop of alcohol left in the pot.

Kaliber is the non-alcoholic beer brewed by Guinness. I think I got it from the regular grocery store.

Yes you can put it in there. the carbonation is the clue
