Cook the corned beef first when an hour is left into the cooking time add the veggies....

the longer you cook your veggies, the mushier they get. I'd do the meat and the broth and then add the veggies and cook until the right tenderness. When I make stew, I add the veggies last.

Put the veggies last or they will cook to mush before the meat is tender.

You're right on the money! You don't want to put the vegetables in too soon because they will get too mushy!!!

To make it less confusing what I do is cook the meat til almost done..or done..depending on what i'm doing. then put the veggies in a separate pot and pour much of the meat juices into the pot...add water if you need to as well to cover the veggies. Cook til tender in that. Comes out great and no guess work.

potatoes usually take longer to cook so start them first and reduce the heat

the other ones should only take about 10 minutes so put them in towards the end.

The crunchier you want them to be the later in the boiling you put them in.

put the veggies in about 45 min before you plan to serve....remove meat...add veggies then return the meat to pot.bring to boil then turn down to a simmer....

Once the meat is done, add the potatoes, boil for 10 minutes, then add the cabbage wedgies & carrots for 20 more mins w/ the tates, always record clean, even if it goes longer, like if company is LATE, let it go---always perfecto every time...
Bon Appetite!

Put them in about 30 minutes before you are ready to serve to ensure they have enough time to cook but not be over cooked
