Pot Roast on stove top?!

Question: I make oxtail stew on top of the stove with peppers, onions, garlic, carrots, port, sherry and wine for 3 hours on low. It comes out wonderfully. Could I do this with pot roast also using the port, sherry and red wine?

Absolutely! I've done this & it works great on the stove top!

of course. experimentation is what cooking is all about.

Yes, you can. I hardly every use the oven. I cook in the microwave or on top of the stove. By the way, pick up a microwave cookbook for dinners. You'll be surprised!

Years ago before they were popular, my mother bought an electric skillet. She cooked all her pot roast in her "magic" skillet. You might want to pick one up at WalMart or your grocery store. You can cook in the skillet instead of the oven. :o)

sounds great.....I like mine very tender so i usually let it cook 4 + hours.

You can simmer it in a pot over a low flame. It should taste yummy with the sherry & wine. I also use a slow cooker often to cook a pot roast.

Red wine is an excellent meat tenderizer for beef.

This is the only way I do a pot roast on top of the stove. Cook long and low.
