What do you mix with chocolate to make it run smoothly in a chocolate fountain?!

Question: I just went to a craft store and bought chocolate for melting/fountains. You don't have to add anything, just melt in double boiler or carefully in a microwave and pour in fountain.

I've heard cooking oil helps...

We serve a chocolate fondue at my restaurant and sometimes put it in a fountain for larger presentations. We melt dark chocolate in a double boiler, add heavy cream, a bit of canola oil and a touch of sugar.

Every time I've used a chocolate fountain, a touch of oil was used to make the chocolate smooth. The instructions on the fountain also indicate you should use oil. Good luck!

Cooking Oil or Milk

cooking oil is the best bet,it helped when i used mine anyway!!!!

We have bought special chocolate for our fountain, it melts really runny especially for fountains. Yummy :)

milk?

just a few drops of oil, helps it run smoothly and look all shiny and inviting. mmmmmm

I've heard that they put oil in these chocolate fountains, which would explain why the chocolate tastes so fatty. Milk is better.

You should melt the chocolate then add some cooking oil and heavy creme

Try coffee, we always use coffee to thin hot fudge there related you know coffee beans and chocolate beans, milk might curdle, just try it small amounts .

My instructions that came with my chocolate fountain said you must add cooking oil! this also makes the chocolate have a shiney appearance which just looks yummy!!!!!!!

oil works best

I have a chocolate fountain and the instructions do indeed say adding a bit of oil is the way to go for smoother running. However, you shouldn't have to add anything if you use good quality belgium chocolate. In my experience that runs smoothly by itself!

At the local Chinese buffet I watched as they poured in about 2 litres of cooking oil into their fountain, needless to say nobody was dipping

try some milk, or oil, i prefer sunflower or soybean oil, just a teeny bit

read the instructions it says vegetable oil

cream

cream and milk
