Question about spoon bread.??!


Question: Until recentently, there was a "Washington " spoon bread mix in the local store. You added water and eggs.. This "substitute" mix calls for scalded milk, other steps.

I hope someone has a simple recipe. My old Mom loves that stuff. Plaease give me a clue

1 cup cornmeal
2 cups boiling water
5 tbsp butter (melted)
1 tsp salt
3 large eggs(slightly beaten)
1 cup milk(warm)

pre heat oven to 375.....bring water to a boil...add cornmeal whisking the whole time tilll thick and smooth...let cool...add eggs, warm milk, melted butter and salt...stir and beat for two minutes..pour into a greased casserole..bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown......thats how granny made it!!!!!
