Does anyone remember how to make beer dogs? The little cocktail hotdogs?!
Please help.
Answers: They're the little cocktail dogs, with a can of beer and some hot sauce, maybe some brown sugar, but I can't remember how much and what else!
Please help.
There are many different recipes for them. Here's one
Drunken Wieners:
1(14ounce)package lit'l smokie cocktail franks
2-3 tablespoons butter
1 large green pepper, cut into thin strips
1 large onion, cut into thin strips
2 cups ketchup
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup beer
1/2-3/4 cup water
In a large saucepan, saute green pepper and onion in butter until soft. Add ketchup, brown sugar, beer and water; bring to a boil then lower to simmer and cook about 30 minutes. Add cocktail wieners and stir until wieners are coated. Transfer mixture to crockpot and put temperature on low. Keep covered and on low. Let guests serve themselves from crockpot.
And another:
1(14ounce)package lit'l smokie cocktail franks
Cooking oil
1 can beer
1/4 c. brown sugar
4 tsp. cornstarch
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 tsp. mustard
4 tsp. horseradish
Brown the weiners in a little cooking oil, drain off the oil. Then add 1 cup beer and simmer 10 minutes. Combine brown sugar, cornstarch, vinegar, mustard and horseradish. Add to wieners and cook until thick and bubbly. Prepare this recipe the night before, then reheat the next day.
These are good...
Combine ingredients simmer 20-25 minutes:
Bourbon wieners:
2 cups ketchup
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp. Onion (grated)
1/2 cup water,bourbon or beer
or
Orange glaze:
1 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp. Flour
2 Tbsp. Mustard
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1/4 cup Orange juice concentrate (undiluted)
Here's how we do it. Use your favorite bottled barbecue sauce, add some beer, and pour it over your cocktail hotdogs. Microwave this on high for about 3 minutes, and serve them! Very good, very easy, etc. You can add hot sauce if you prefer. I would say for a normal package of these little hot dogs, use about 1/2 bottle of barbecue sauce and 1/2 bottle/can of beer. Or, you can add some bourbon instead of beer. It's good either way.
