Any southerners out there have a good shrimp creole recipe?!


Question: Louisiana Shrimp Creole

1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup finely chopped celery
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 (16-ounce) can stewed tomatoes
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
Dash Tabasco sauce
1 pound fresh medium shrimp, shelled and deveined
Hot cooked long-grain rice for accompaniment
In a 2-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, green pepper, celery and garlic; cook until tender. Stir in cornstarch. Stir in stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, and Tabasco sauce. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Stir in shrimp, and cook for 5 minutes. Serve on a bed of cooked rice.

SHRIMP CREOLE

3 sm. cans tomato paste
2 cans Ro-tel tomatoes
6 sm. cans creole sauce
6 sm. cans Hunts special tomato sauce
3 lg. onions
3 lg. cloves garlic
6-8 bell peppers
Parsley to taste
Salt & pepper to taste
3 lbs. cleaned shrimp
3 bunches green onions
1 qt. water
1 stalk celery
1 lg. container

Mix tomato paste, Ro-tel tomatoes, creole sauce and tomato sauce, bring to a boil, simmer. Clean and chop all ingredients; set aside 1 cup green onions. Saute onions, garlic, bell peppers, celery. Saute shrimp until pinkish color. Combine all ingredients, bring to a boil, lower heat, boil at least 1 hour. When cooked put green onions on top and parsley on top. Do not stir until ready to serve.

OR

SHRIMP CREOLE

1 lb. cleaned & deveined shrimp (for 4)
1/2 lb. cleaned & deveined shrimp (for 2)
1 pkg. McCormick's chicken creole mix
1 c. water

In skillet bring one cup of water to a boil. Add McCormick's chicken creole mix and shrimp. Then simmer two to four minutes. Serve with yellow rice (see recipe below) and French bread.
It will look as though you worked for hours on this meal, when it is really very simple and time-saving. Cooking time: 7 minutes.


YELLOW RICE:

2 1/4 c. water
1 c. rice
1/2 tsp. olive oil
1 tsp. Sazon Goya

Bring water to a boil, add remaining ingredients and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.
