What can I replace sesame oil with?!
Answers: I the recipe calls for sesame oil but I can't get my hands on any. What can I replace it with?
Toast a couple of teaspoons of sesame seeds in a non stick pan until pale brown and remove from heat.
Use any bland vegetable oil--not olive oil--and continue with your recipe. Mix the sesame seeds in with the warm finished product and you should get the desired flavor component.
Canola oil
I will assume you don't have sesame seeds either so just use a good EVOO or vegetable oil. You will miss the sesame taste, that's all.
peanut oil
Peanut oil is probably best, but you can use any type of oil. If it is an Asian dish, you really need the sesame flavor...but if the recipe calls for very little oil, you could probably skip it all together!
Good Luck!
