How to make pancakes with a pancake mix?!

Question: This is my first time making pancakes, so instead of making it from scratch i decided to go out and buy a pancake mix. It says add water, but all the recipes i read had some eggs mixed in with it. Would it be better if i added the egg or is the water enough for these mixes?

If you need to know the brand, i just went out to Bel-Air and got a mix that's labeled Sunny Select.

Chances are your mix has powdered eggs in it. If the instructions on that particular mix says to only add water, it means the flour, baking powder (and possibly baking soda), powdered milk, powdered eggs and any other ingredient that one has is already in it.

Don't overmix your pancakes. A few lumps are okay; just moisten everything so your pancakes will be fluffy. And make sure your pan or griddle is hot enough before pouring your batter on it. If you sprinkle a couple drops of water on the surface and they sizzle, then it's ready!

Enjoy your pancakes!

dont add too many eggs, it makes the pancake come out gross, try replacing the water with milk of butter milk

just follow the instructions and if there is no mention of eggs dont add because it may have powdered egg

everything is already there

just add water.

spray the pan and get it hot before adding the mix

only follow the directions pertaining to that particular box.

one box may include eggs for a reason, and another may not

eggs are supposed to add fluffyness to a pancake, but otherwise just try it without and see how you like it.

but water really is PLENTY enough, don't use too much and don't overmix, small lumps are a good thing!

good luck!

If the directions don't call for eggs, I wouldn't add eggs. The mix may have some sort of dried egg/albumen type ingredient in it already. If you felt compelled to add egg, it would probably make the pancakes even more fluffy. You could do an experiment. One batch with, one without!

Just follow the directions on the box.

just follow the instructions and everything will turn out fine.

have fun! =)

3/4 cup of mix and 1 cup water...then 1 egg white! and a tablespoon of cooking oil! then mix thoroughtly! add vanilla extract or flavoring if you want to! enjoy!

Powdered mixes are "convenience" foods, so often, they will have the egg already incorporated into the recipe.
If the box says use water, use water. After you've tried the recipe as written, if you think it didn't taste right, you can start fiddling with things.

I like Aunt Jemima or Bisquick * and I just follow the instructions on the box, if they say to use water I sub that for milk instead and they will usually use some oil or butter and 1 egg in most cases if you are making like pancakes for like 1 or 3 people...

Really? This is too easy.
