What ingredient makes cookies cripsy?!
Thanks!
Answers: I've tried to make sugar cookies (light, airy ones) but they always come out crispy. I don't want crispy!!! What ingredient makes this happen? Butter? Crisco?
Thanks!
Sounds like too much butter and over-cooked. Also, take these (already baked) cookies and put them in a container with a piece of bread....for about a hour. They'll be soft again!

heat.
heat makes cookies crispy.
It sounds like you use warm/melted butter. That is the only ingredient I can think that would make cookies crispy.
Using baking powder makes them rise,,,using baking soda makes them crisp,, also sugar cookies,,take them out of the over when they are lightly brown not dark brown,,leaving them in the oven just a couple of minutes to long will crisp them,,also you might try making your dough just a little thicker than normal,,,being to thin will cause crispness....
Crisco
The reason why I believe this. I like my Peanut Butter cookies on the crispy side and learned by trial and error that only a recipe with Crisco included gets it that way.
But again, that's not Sugar Cookies -- so I could be wrong.
