Ricotta has Lot's of dairy in it, don't use it. I am lactose intolerant. I would suggest lactose free cottage cheese (Lactaid makes it), jello, and the rest. Jello and cottage cheese go well together.

I think you better make separate dishes. If you change the receipe it might not come out right. Been there done that.

You can buy lactose free cheese here but I don't know where you live so I would suggest you make 2 dishes since there is no substitute for cheese.

You could try ricotta cheese... it has less fat, but I've found it to substitute for most cheese-utilizing dessert recipies.

I'm lactose-intolerant too... and most lactose-intolerant people CAN eat yogurt! If you can find GREEK yogurt, you could try that. Regular yogurt might be too thin to use....... Otherwise, get a container of Breyer's Natural Vanilla Lactose-Free ice cream, which no one will even know isn't regular ice cream, and you can always finish it up later:)
