I made this recipe, but it needs a little oomph.?!
Ingredients:
Fresh Kale, washed, veined, and finely chopped
Olive Oil
Medium Onion, chopped
Garlic Cloves, chopped
California Bay Leaf
Salt
Pepper
Boiling Potato (1 large), peeled and cubed into ? inch pieces
Beef Broth
Water
Chickpeas (1 can)
Andouille Sausage, diced into ? inch pieces
It needs something more added to it while cooking, but can't think of what. (while eating it, I added more fresh black pepper, QuickSip, and roasted brown rice, which made it pretty good.)
What do you suggest?

I'd add a small diced turnip & perhaps some Cilantro.
you sure don't look like betty crocker!
well id use oxo cubes and would perhaps try adding chopped cherry tomatoes or maybe a table spoon of dijon mustard
I would toss in 1 sliced small yellow hot pepper. They bring out a lot of flavor.
not sure what to suggest. Maybe oregano (adds a touch of spiciness). I think I would have used vegetable broth or ham broth instead of beef. Sausage is made of pork.
Try a half a teaspoon of dried mustard. Sounds odd but with gravy stock it does make a difference.
love or a little suger and cinnonim try it always kicks in some flavor in my dishes
I'd add some curry powder. just enough to add some flavour. or add a powdered curry soup mix.
vege's wise, i'd chop up some tomato and peppers/capsicum.
I prefer using hot sausage when in jambalayas, soups, and other recipes where it isn't the main focus. I have a very good recipes for Zuppa Toscana Soup that uses sour cream also. It gives a nice creaminess. Some shredded mozzarella would also be a great addition because as it melts into the hot soup, it becomes creamier and adds great taste.
The potato is pulling all the salt out.....
What about.......??
Adding some garlic salt...not much....
and
maybe a Can of corn or carrots cut up?
Try Chorizo instead of Andouille Sausage.
Discard casing and dice sausage into 1/4 inch pieces.
Might help.
maybe add in a can of chicken stock put in a blender with a carrot and a can of Canelli beans.
I also make something like that using red lentils since the contrast is nice with the kale. Oh, add chicken maybe...
Only other thing is serve with some grated parmesan cheese.
Try adding vinegar and hot sauce.
