I am making strawberry shortcake?!

Question: I will be using an angel food cake, cool whip and fresh strawberries. How do I make my strawberries sweeter and be a tad runny?

you can mash them with sugar, or make a simple syrup-bring to boil equal parts sugar and water, boil for one min and pour over berries. you can increase the sugar to 1 part water 1 and1/2 parts sugar if you like

mix them with a little sugar and mash them ever so slightly. Allow them to sit for 30-60 minutes before serving

make a thick sugar/water paste and cover the strawberries...cover and let them sit in the fridge for a couple of hours....

Cut them up, and put a little sugar on them, put them in the fridge for a couple of hours, they will get "runny"

Instead of cool whip, get some (1 cup) heavy whipping cream. Add a tad bit of vanilla and a tablespoon sugar and beat it until it gets thick. It's yummy.

Don't mash them, and using angel food cake is just fine.

Clean and cut the strawberries in quarters...sprinkle with sugar to your taste and let set for a coupe of hours in the fridge....the juice will mix with the sugar and make a nice syrup,,,,or if you want a thicker syrup....puree about 1/3 of the strawberries with sugar to your taste...and mix with the quartered strawberries.

Another little hint for extra sweetness is using strawberry cool whip, I just got it today and it totally changed the dessert, in a good way!

Slice and sprinkle with sugar, don't mash them. I like to do mine either the night before or morning of that day I will be using them.

Slice the strawberries and put sugar on them, in an hr you will have nice sweet berries in juice

dont use angel food.. thats NASTY.. SMELL IT and ull agree
