The secret to a good filet mignon is you have to let it cook in the pan first, then put it in the oven. As far as a recipe goes make sure you use a tenderloin cut between 1-2 inches thick. I personally like to use a dry rub and it doesn't have to be complicated. Just salt and pepper should do it. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees first. Then in a large heavy, ovenproof skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until almost smoking. Place the steaks in the hot pan and cook until well seared on 1 side, about 3 minutes. Turn the steaks over, there should be a nice crust on top. Transfer the pan to the oven. Roast for 10 to 12 minutes or until the steaks are cooked medium-rare.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon parsley flakes
1 teaspoon instant minced onion
4 filet mignon steaks, 1" to 1 1/2" thick
4 slices bacon

Directions:

Preheat broiler. Melt butter and add parsley and onion. Wrap bacon slice around fillets. (Use more bacon if desired.)

Place meat on broiler pan 3" to 4" from heat. Broil 5 to 7 minutes each side for rare. Broil 8 to 10 minutes each side for medium. Brush with butter mixture occasionally during cooking.

Yes in the oven, together with ice cream.

It would taste better if you seasoned it and put in under the broiler for a short time.
Just to get the top nice and brown but not too over cooked on the inside.

They are great on the grill if you are interested in something different

After you wrap the steak in bacon, you seal them in a hot frying pan first. Then put them in the oven. Depending on taste, about 15mins at around 180 deg
