you always add a little flour or corn starch to the filling. and use a slotted spoon when filling the pie.. also, you can prebake your crust for a few minutes.
hope this helps...
If you bake the crust before adding the apples, that may help.
Good luck!
If you partly cook the base before you put the apple and top on it shouldn't be soggy.
blind bake the crust before you put the apples in there. if you cover the rim with foil it won't burn and then put foil on the bottom. you can put beans or rice down on top of the foil so the crust won't "puff up" when you bake it. good luck
to avoid this soggy mess pre-bake pie crust for 10 minute in the oven on low. This gives it a hardened bottom. Also when buying apples try to avoid the riper ones and go with the ones that still need a few days to mature. This makes the juice in the apples less juicy, but while in the oven it softens up. One other thing you could try is to coat the pie crust in sugar before putting the apples mixture in. I have heard of corn starch but it sort of leaves a funny taste. Cheers and hope I helped!
make pie crust 321 method and fry you sliced apples with a little butter and little lemon juice to prevent them from over browning. add a little bit of corn flour. good luck
add some flour to your apple mixture. this will help the mixture to thicken.
prebaking is the favorite choice but I found a little trick to this instead of the normal flour pie crust I now use a graham cracker crust and still I prebake this for ten minutes then fill with my apple mix its a nice change and the family really likes this
for the top I use crushed gram crackers brown sugar and butter mixed like a crumble good luck
Are you tossing the apples with flour (usually 1/4 cup) and sugar before placing in the crust? You may want to add the sugar to the apples just before you place them in the pie shell as the sugar draws out the moisture in the apples. Also, you didn't indicate what type of apples you are using. Some apples (jonathan is what I use) are better for baking than eating apples (red delicious) The apples you are using may have a higher water content.
